Thursday’s Sacramento Bee included an article by Aurelio Rojas that discussed how in the final weeks of the campaign for Proposition 8, Ogilvy PR was ousted and replaced by Sacramento-based Perry Communications.
This was followed by an article on Friday in the New York Times by Jesse McKinley and Kirk Johnson that highlighted the role of Sacramento-based Schubert-Flint in raising the clarion call for more money that was answered by members of the Mormon Church.
Ed. note - The editor was employed by Ogilvy PR from 1998-2000.

As a partnered Gay man - raised as a Fundamental Evangelical Christian - I am surprised that little has been written about the racism within the Mormon Church doctrine. It has only been in the last few decades that the Mormon Church believed African Americans where the sign/mark of Cain and were at one time not aloud to become a member because of there race. The doctrine changed over time to allow membership, but continued to teach that African Americans would never reach the highest level on heaven. That level is the exclusive right of white males within the church. White women are simple the vessel to bear as many children to raise the standing and heavenly level of the their white husbands in the afterlife.
My point being that Mormons doctrine is racist as well as sexist with an unusual cult like following that controls it members. As a member, if you don’t agree, you are separated, emotionally disciplined and possible removed from membership. Freethinking is not encouraged.
This is not to say the conservative fundamental Christian or the Catholic Church are being given a free pass here, but at least their doctrine is not based on racism. It is a twist of irony that both faiths view Mormons as a satanic cult by placing the Book of Mormon on equal footing if not above the Bible. It is an interesting alliance that has distorted the message of Christ from love and tolerance to hate. Very sad and sadder still that the money and organization came from a religion that is still fundamentally racist – one of the few dirty little secrets of the Mormon Church
