Golden Pacific Bancorp recently announced the expected opening their Sacramento-headquartered Golden Pacific Bank, a proposed federal savings bank, this December.
The interesting angle to this launch is the Board for the proposed bank is heavy with local public affairs heavyweights. Among those named in the release as members of the board:
- Donna Lucas (of Lucas Public Affairs - formerly of Gov. Schwarzenegger’s staff and Porter-Novelli);
- Cassandra Walker Pye (senior VP at APCO - also formerly on Gov. Schwarzenegger’s staff); and
- Richard Claussen (founding partner of Goddard Claussen Strategic Advocacy).

There actually is an active website, the search engines just haven’t picked it up yet. You can get more information about the proposed bank at http://www.goldenpacificbancorp.com
I think it is about time that Sacramento gets serious about community banking. For too long “outsiders” have tried to “service” this market only to frustrate local business people and regular Joe’s. Based on checking out their website, this bank could certainly change that!
